There will be two categories of activities:-
1. Activities For Members Only:
a- Meetings, at least twice in a month
Members will meet and discuss books on a certain genre which they are required to read. They shall be asked to give a short summary of the story verbally and will be required to prepare a written or printed review of the book which they shall submit during the next meeting.
b- Presentations in Groups
Once every two months, members shall be required to prepare a Microsoft Powerpoint presentation in groups of five to six members. The topic of the presentation will be "Our Favourite Book" and all the members in a group should be familiar with the book chosen by that particular group. The presentation should include the title of the book, the author and publisher, a simple character list and the plot of the story.
2. Activities For Both Members and Non-Members:
a- Story-telling Competition and/or Impromptu Speech
Students will be asked to give a three to five minute speech on a certain topic which they will not know beforehand for the impromptu speech. For the story-telling competition, students need to come up with their own short stories and present it on stage.
b- Story-writing Competition
Students can pair up to write a story of 1500 words above. The committee and teacher-in-charge will pick the best five essays, which, after every necessary correction, will then be posted to the website and visitors are allowed to vote for the winner of the competition.
There will be more activities for the Reading Club after the first club meeting~
P.S. the activities for may seem tough, but hopefully through it, we can all learn to improve and increase our confidence and at the same time, have fun ^-^
